In December 2023, the Lyon County Historical Society received a Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grant of $141,000 towards the implementation of a compact storage system in the basement storage room of the Lyon County Museum, 301 W Lyon St, Marshall. A portion of funds received from the late Mark Goodenow along with donations from members supported this project. On Thursday, October 24 from 11:00 – 2:00 and 5:00 – 7:00, there is an open house for the Mark S. Goodenow Collections Storage Room. Get a behind the scenes tour of the storage system and renovated space along with seeing how the collection is organized and stored when not on exhibit.
