Position Summary: this position performs a wide variety of duties involving the maintenance and repair of various public works facilities. Performs various types of manual labor. Operates light equipment and trucks in the maintenance of streets, parks, and airport, and provides maintenance to the City storm sewer system.
Candidate Minimum Required Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
2. Valid MN Class B CDL License with endorsements for airbrakes and tankers, or must have the ability to attain a valid licensure and endorsements within 60 days of hire.
3. One (1) year experience in an area of construction such as carpentry, welding, landscape, masonry or asphalt paving.
4. One (1) year experience in operation of trucks and light equipment.
5. Must maintain a 30-minute travel/response time while obeying all traffic laws and speed limits to the Street Maintenance Facility located at 901 Oak Street.
Eligibility for Hire: Employment is conditional upon successful completion and passage of a criminal history background check, driver's license verification, FMCSA Clearinghouse Query, a pre-employment physical, a pre-employment drug screening, and reference checks to determine suitability for employment.
Pay range at hire: $26.77 - $28.53 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday; some work will occur outside the regular scheduled hours.
The employee in this position must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays to perform snow removal, provide emergency or planned city services, etc.
