POSITION AVAILABLE: Cybersecurity Specialist
POSITION LOCATION: Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC) with placement in Marshall or Windom, MN.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Cybersecurity Specialist specializes in the field of information technology security and is a key component in fulfilling the day-to-day operations of the SWWC Cybersecurity team. They safeguard information system assets, protect systems by defining access privileges, control structures and resources, and implement security improvements. The Cybersecurity Specialist will research and collaborate with the SWWC Cybersecurity team to identify and implement solutions ensuring that instructional and enterprise technology infrastructures operate reliably and as securely as possible.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Serve as an integral part of the SWWC Cybersecurity Team by providing on-site and remote cybersecurity related services and project execution for assigned member entities in accordance with the specifications of SWWC standards and protocols;
- Represents SWWC Cybersecurity at assigned member entities to ensure that the full scope of services provided by SWWC Cybersecurity are deployed and utilized by the member, including the management and deployment of services that the member entity determines to be the responsibility of the Cybersecurity Specialist in its environment;
- Serve as a cybersecurity subject matter expert, assess the business and privacy impact of cybersecurity risks to assigned member entities, while identifying options and recommendations to mitigate risk;
- Proactively monitor network environments of assigned member entities to detect and identify steps to mitigate cyber-attacks before they occur;
- Reviews, investigates, and responds to real-time alerts within the environment;
- Monitors online security-related resources for new and emerging cyber threats;
- Regularly meet with SWWC Cybersecurity team members to analyze and mitigate the risks identified at assigned member entities;
- Assess new security technologies to determine potential value for the enterprise;
- Communicate cybersecurity risks and solutions to various technical and non-technical audiences applying concepts and practices to both educational and enterprise environments;
- Develop strong working relationships with and offer continuous assistance to others in the cybersecurity and technology organizations at SWWC and assigned member entities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associates Degree in a field aligned to cybersecurity and minimal experience in a job-related field OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a job-related field that enables performance of all aspects of this position. Prior experience with managing and securing both on-premise and hosted or cloud-based systems and applications is preferred. Security+ (or comparable) Certification is preferred or obtainable within the first year of employment. Valid Minnesota Driver’s license is required.
SALARY: Full-time position. Salary range for this position is $59,906 - $85,322. Placement is dependent upon education, qualifications, and experience. Excellent benefits package. Position to start in January 2025.
