Adult Basic Education (ABE) is seeking applications for the position of Teacher. The position of ESL Teacher will be responsible for all aspects in the classroom including facilitation of student learning, program development, recordkeeping, and reporting.
Job Responsibilities:

  1. Be able to assess individual student learning needs/interests
    1. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate unique learning styles
    2. Assist students in debriefing and evaluating their personal learning needs and experiences
  2. Lesson planning and facilitation for students participating in programs
  3. Create a flexible and all-inclusive learning environment
  4. Assist students in completing the initial intake process, assessment, and student orientation
  5. Attend and actively participate in ABE staff meetings, regional and statewide workshops
  6. Actively seek information and workshop experience to meet personal and program training needs
  7. Help with establishing annual program development objectives
  8. Administer CASAS post-test as required by the program
  9. Verify accuracy of student records
  10. Coordinate with staff for coverage in absences
  11. Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field and licensure
  2. Hold a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  3. Pass a background check
  4. Basic knowledge of a computer
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. A thorough knowledge of Adult Basic Education, adult ESL, and adult literacy
  2. A minimum of two years of successful teaching experience
  3. Supervisory/managerial/leadership experience
  4. Experience working with diverse groups
Salary/Contract:  Part-Time Position.  Beginning salary dependent upon education, qualifications, and experience.
