Description

A traveling museum exhibit, "New Land, New Life: Norwegian Immigration to Minnesota, 1825-1925” opens July 1 at the Lyon County Museum, 301 West Lyon Street in Marshall.

The Lyon County Historical Society and the Canby Sons of Norway Vennskap Lodge #554 are proud to host this traveling exhibit.  The educational, informational and entertaining displays feature text and photographs in a 20-panel exhibit with a general topic featured on each.  The exhibit is free and open to the public. The project is underwritten by grants from the Minnesota Clean Water, Land and Legacy Fund and the Sons of Norway Foundation.

The exhibit culminates two year’s work by St. Paul’s Sons of Norway lodge and its volunteer members. In addition to the informational panels, local Sons of Norway Lodge members and community members will display artifacts, present educational programs, and schedule events including cultural skills demonstrations, and other entertaining performances.  An opening reception will be held at the Lyon County Museum on Thursday, July 13 at 6:30pm.
