The Southwestern Center for Independent Living (SWCIL) and the SMSU Offices of Cultural Diversity, Disability Resources, and Counseling and Testing Services will offer a one-day conference to create awareness regarding discrimination, disabilities, and racism, causing attendees to be more mindful of community and institutional discrimination and the impact it has on individuals.
The conference is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required. A light lunch will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. If you park in Lots A and B, parking passes will not be required that day, as these lots will be reserved for conference parking. This is a smoke and fragrance-free event.
This event is sponsored by the Southwestern Center for Independent Living and the Offices of Cultural Diversity, Disability Resources, and Counseling and Testing Services of SMSU.
Requests for reasonable accommodations must be received by March 9, 2012. Requests can be made by contacting Pam Ekstrom, SMSU Director of Disability Resources, at 537-7672 or by e-mail at pam.ekstrom@smsu.edu. Hearing-impaired callers use the Minnesota Relay Service at 711 or 800-627-3529.
