Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery is accountable for the safe, individualized, efficient, and effective management and delivery of nursing care for women before, during and after delivery of the baby.

Secondary department: Med/Surg

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Licensed as a Registered nurse (RN) in the state of Minnesota is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire is required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 60 days of hire is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire is required.
  • Attend the Perinatal Practicum course is required.
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. certification within 6 months is required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year of hire is required.
  • Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) within 1 year of hire is required.

Work Schedule

  • Day/Night Shift, 7:00am-7:30pm, 7:00pm-7:30am; 68 hours every 2 weeks
    • Every 3rd weekend
    • Holiday rotation: 1 summer, 1 winter
    • Occasional call time
