Powder Coat Operator

Action Manufacturing is a family-owned manufacturing business that started in 2008. Our product line started with the Action Trackchair and has grown to include other tracked/mobility products, as well as other outside jobs done for customers. We pride ourselves in providing the highest individual service to our customers. We have top shelf equipment for Laser Cutting, Computerized Press Brake, Powder Coating, Sandblasting/Wheel-a-brator, Robotic Welding, Tube Bending, Machining, Shearing, Rolling, Custom Design (SolidWorks). We are looking for a motivated individual to prepare materials for powder coating, maintain assigned equipment, and operate powder coat equipment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare metal for the powder application process including hanging, washing, plugging, scrubbing, taping, and sanding of parts.
  • Follow paint production schedule to determine parts to load.
  • Loads and unloads parts on rack system checking for defects or damaged parts, check coating finish for proper baking and appearance to meet quality standards.
  • Places prescribed protective material between, around parts, and into containers to ensure finishes are not marred.
  • Follow all safety regulations for themselves as well as other team members, including keeping the work area clean and in orderly condition as well as wearing all appropriate safety attire for the job that is being performed
  • Prepares powder and other coating materials to standardized colors and consistencies for application on a variety of parts and products varying in size and configurations.
  • Basic understanding of assembly processes.
  • Basic knowledge in the usage of common hand tools, handheld power tools, fabricating equipment, and portable air tools such as a ratchet.
  • Requires sufficient reasoning ability to understand detailed, yet repetitive, written and oral instructions, and solve straightforward, immediate problems.
  • Complete accurate daily reports to track job-specific labor hours via computer software.
  • Performs other related duties/tasks as assigned by floor leader(s) that are of a reasonable request to include mandatory overtime when needed.
  • Reports concerns, issues, and shortages to appropriate leader(s) in timely manner.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience operating CNC press brake machines in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must be self-motivated, a collaborator with the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to interpret specific instructions, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of production/quality standards, and assembly procedures/processes.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well with others.
  • 1-3 years of MIG & TIG welding experience, and prior use of various tools/equipment including lathe, mill, drill press, plasma cutter, bandsaw, angle grinders etc. (Preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand at fabrication equipment for 6-8 hours.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, twisting, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to perform Team Lift to lift/push/pull/carry up to 80 pounds.
