Salary: Starting at $75,000 and up depending upon qualifications

Marshall Public Schools is seeking applications for the position of District Wide Supervisor of Building and Grounds. 
 
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of school buildings, grounds, and related facilities. This role ensures that facilities are safe, clean, and meet the needs of staff, students, and visitors. The supervisor manages a team of custodial and maintenance staff, coordinates schedules, and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of all properties and building systems, including HVAC, electrical, automation systems, plumbing, and security.
  • Guide and assist maintenance and custodial staff, and encourage and support their continuous performance improvement
  • Be a liaison between school district’s administration and contractors, as well as state, federal, and local officials on construction projects, and oversee and monitor building codes, specifications, and budgets
  • Develop and execute long-term plans for facility maintenance, renovations, and upgrades.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
  • Coordinate and monitor the work of contractors and vendors
  • Oversee safety training programs and conduct routine safety audits.
  • Ensure that all work conducted by staff and contractors adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Supervise custodial, grounds and maintenance staff; conduct employee performance evaluations, and make recommendations for staff hire and dismissal
  • Ability to identify and problem solve buildings and grounds maintenance issues
  • Address and resolve maintenance requests and concerns promptly
  • Develop, oversee, and manage the department's annual budget, including operational and capital expenditures.
  • Provide reports and updates to the Director of Operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction management, and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to maintain plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local codes
  • Knowledge of drafting and the ability to read blueprints
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Ability to program and operate Building Automation Systems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and outside agencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to utilize basic technology
  • Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE: 
  • Associate or Technical Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND REGISTRATIONS: (Must be able to obtain within first year)
  • Boiler License (Chief License Preferred)
  • Plant Manager Certification

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • The regular work environment of this position is both in an indoor and outdoor setting, and the incumbent will be exposed to extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
  • Physical activities generally include frequent movement, including reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, pulling, grasping, stooping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.  Incumbent will be required to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Will frequently be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of furniture or equipment, and may occasionally be required to lift and/or move items of up to 100 pounds.
  • Will be exposed to noise of machinery and equipment, as well as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Occasionally subjected to mechanical and electrical hazards, radiant energy, and bodily fluids. May occasionally be required to use protective devices such as a respirator and/or special clothing.
  • May occasionally be exposed to asbestos.
