After School Program Staff (Part Time)
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Community Programs in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Marshall Area YMCA the After School Staff person assists in leading a group of students age Pre-K to 4th grade in enrichment based programming. Staff duties include keeping attendance records, monitoring child behavior, helping with daily homework/reading time, and leading games and activities. In addition he/she is to aid the Marshall Area YMCA in fulfilling the mission and vision of the Afterschool Program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Person must be able to creatively interact and inspire a group of children, uphold the After School Program mission and values, and have a love for children. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school or GED Diploma. CPR and Basic First Aid certifications are required. Certification may be obtained within 45 days of hire date.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND PREREQUISITES: Position requires a person with experience in working with young children. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; watch and listen to the activities of a group of children; and lead children in organized activities. Applicant must be able to move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor terrain and participate in typical outdoor children’s games, sports and activities.
