Job Description
Salary and Terms:  Probationary, full time position. Salary placement is based on evaluation of experience.  MSUAASF Range C.
 
Appointment Date:  July 2, 2018 or date to be negotiated.

Position DescriptionThe Director of Stewardship and Advancement Services leads and develops creative and effective methods to enhance donor recognition and strengthen relationships with the University to increase the likelihood of continued involvement, engagement and contributions. The Director is responsible for managing all donor research and leading prospect management strategies.  In addition, the Director manages and supervises staff in gift receipting, stewardship, and database management.  Also, the Director is a primary administrator for the University-wide scholarship management software, AcademicWorks, to steward scholarship donations. 
 
Qualifications:                   
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or communication related area, Master’s preferred
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in relationship management or related field
  • Self-directed professional who can work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills to assist in identifying and cultivating productive relationships with donors, faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies
  • Ability to influence others
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including working with a sophisticated database and web based technologies and tools
  • Analytical skills necessary to extract, assess, and analyze data from multiple sources to develop a comprehensive donor/prospect composite
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical implementation
  • Ability to communicate a strong affinity to the University, its mission, vision and goals
  • Skill in making independent and creative decisions
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles and processes of merit-based and non-merit based scholarship programs preferred
  • Knowledge of student recruitment/retention issues and programs at the university level preferred
  • Knowledge of researchers’ code of ethics and experience dealing with sensitive information; evidence of discreet judgment and confidentiality preferred
  • Knowledge of Minnesota State system policies and procedures governing college foundations and data privacy preferred
